FAQ

Can anybody play?
Yes, anyone can play, however because it is an Adult Open Mic Night we do encourage people to be 18 and above or at least prepare yourself that it will be mostly adults and who may use adult language.

How much does it cost to perform at the Open Mic?
$10 for artist and per band member

I play in a band, is my band allowed to play?
Yes, your full band or partial band is allowed to play.

I am a comedian or a spoken word artist, poet, magician or have a talent can I perform?
Yes, we would love to have any type of artist performance at our open mic?s! Please inform us of what you will be performing for us to help accommodate you.

How many songs can my band play?
2 Songs or a 10 minute set.

What if I go over the time limit?
You must be done setting up within 10 minutes, when you are done performing please make sure you get your gear off stage as quickly as possible so the next act can utilize the most of their 10 minute set up.

Is their a guest list for my fans?
No, everyone must pay $5 entry fee.

Can I bring in my own equipment or my own backline?
To make the show run smoothly, Rock City Studios will carry the backline equipment for a full list of our backline equipment please visit our website at https://www.rockcitystudios.net/specs. Drummers can bring in their cymbals, kick pedal and a snare and guitarist can bring in their heads to plug into our cabinets. However, if your setup takes more then 10 minutes your performance will be cut to 5 minutes.

How must is the Video/Audio recording of my set?
Yes, for solo artists, it is $75 per song. For full bands it is $100 per song. This comes with the audio mixed and synced to the video fully edited. More info on our recording and video studio: https://www.rockcitystudios.net/recording-studio

How do I get my recordings?
We can either send you a WeTransfer file or you can bring in a USB or Thunderbolt Drive.

When Should I Arrive?
All artists should arrive around 30 minutes before doors open to check in and make sure we have your stage plot correctly.

What is a stage plot and why do I have to send it in?
A stage plot is a graphic representation that illustrates your band's setup when you perform live, your placement on stage, what gear you use, and some other helpful information. Be sure to include: A basic visual that shows where each member is positioned on stage.

Parking Situation
There is a large free parking lot.

Is there a professional photographer at the venue who can take pictures?
Yes, please make this arrangement with the office by emailing us. Our in house photographer is www.erikademartini.com

Can I bring my own photographer/videographer?
Yes, the person would have to pay admission and can not use flash.

Many have considered his charismatic performance as live theatre where no show is alike and audience members become participants in the experience. Pato dialogues with the crowd on a range of topics including current day events and spiritual freedom while keeping the vibes upbeat and fun! The direction of the concert is totally based on the feedback Pato receives from the audience as there is no fixed set list. Many have said that the positivity generated from the stage has changed their lives forever. Skin & Bones is comprised of Taylor Borsuk on guitar, vocals, and suitcase drum with Peter Blackwelder on violin. The Americana duo defined themselves street performing on the salty boardwalk of Venice Beach and continue to grow as musicians as they travel the country. Skin & Bones traveled to Nashville, TN over summer to record their debut full length record at The Bomb Shelter. The record, "Shadowboxing" was produced by Jon Estes (Steelism, John Paul White, Ben Sollee) and mixed by Andrija Tokic (The Alabama Shakes, The Deslondes, Langhorne Slim). "Shadowboxing" will be released on June 15th, 2018

Austin?s Nine-piece Psychedelic Latin-Funk Masters ?Brownout' collective formed ten years ago by members of Grammy Award-winning Latin orchestra Grupo Fantasma. Brownout has evolved into a musical force all its own. After garnering their third Austin Music Awards, the band has continued to produce music that is unflinchingly progressive, while evoking the classic influences of artists such as WAR, Cymande and Funkadelic. They?ve performed at events including Bonnaroo, High Sierra Music Festival, Pickathon, FFFFest, Bear Creek Music Festival, Utopia Festival and Pachanga Fest, while regularly touring the U.S. Brownout?s also served as a highly in-demand backing band for artists including Prince, Daniel Johnston, GZA and Bernie Worrell.

The Young Dubliners are quite possibly Celtic rock?s hardest working band, playing hundreds of shows to thousands of fans across the US and Europe every year. In recent years they have twice appeared on ABC?s Jimmy Kimmel Live Good Morning America, had songs featured in TV shows (Sons Of Anarchy, Human Target) and toured extensively as a headliner and as the opener for such a diverse list of artists as Collective Soul, Jethro Tull, Johnny Lang, Los Lobos and many more.



Although the Young Dubliners sound is most commonly called ?Celtic Rock?, that label, as labels often can be, is misleading. The Irish influence is there, certainly, but it?s not the only influence that rears its head on their albums, or in live shows. After all, several of the band members have no Irish roots of any kind. ?That was always the idea", Keith Roberts, lead singer for the band explains. ?The sound was always intended to be a hybrid because we all come from different backgrounds. Even though two of us are from Ireland, a lot of the music we listened to growing up wasn?t Irish at all, but when we got here, we got homesick and developed a new appreciation for Irish Music. In truth the Celtic riffs can just as easily come from the American band members. Everyone writes now so you never know what we?ll end up with when we start on a new album.



The last album (Nine) was the bands first independently released effort. ?We had a few label offers but decided we were well overdue to take things into our own hands,? says Roberts, ?After eight albums on various labels it just seemed right to go it alone for once and maintain full creative control.?



However ?going it alone? did not mean without financial support and for that they turned to their fans. After only a month the band had received the necessary funds to complete the recording and the result is considered one of their greatest achievements to date.



But recordings aside this is still predominantly a live band. Relentless touring has garnered them a ?following of the faithful? and this has allowed them to follow their dream year in and year out. ?We are very appreciative of how the fans have continued to support the live shows. It makes for a crazy but enjoyable year despite the hectic travel schedule" says Roberts.

We are playing our rescheduled show at Discovery
Since 1957, this site has operated as a bowling alley. Originally built in 1942 as an A&P Grocery, the building was converted in 1957 when 10 lanes were brought over from next door (now Fuller Paint).

The building was built during WWII, thus no steel was used for the construction. Instead, the Lamella roofing style, which is a mathematical equation in and of itself, spans over 100 ft. at over 28 ft. high without any column support. It?s pretty radical, and we can?t wait for you to see it restored!
