PORCH CHOPS formed in May of 1988 at a gig on a porch in West Chester, PA. The name was chosen spontaneously that day and the band celebrates its 30th Anniversary upstairs at The Queen. Founding members Brad Riesau and Butch Zito will be joined by longtime members drummer "El Tempo" (aka D. Batteria), Mr. Stevie Hobson (guitar legend/vocals) and alumni fashion guru/guitarist/vocalist Keith "Dieter" Mossberg, as well as Tony Cappella and Dustin Frohlich.

PORCH CHOPS' sounds mutated over the years from the bluegrass, folk and roots music of their early years through their more edgy and expansive jam and hard rock middle period to their current incarnation where just about any style of music from hard core old school country to expansive lengthy improvisation. Punky simplicity and psychedelic blues can wind through their mix of originals and cover tunes.

With over 600 original compositions between the band members and nearly 5 times that many covers in their vast repertoire, you never know what you'll hear when you catch PORCH CHOPS in concert. Rock, blues, country, folk, random nonsense often all at the same time. Be there or be oblong.

Ben Caplan at The Kennett Flash

A charismatic charmer and a smasher of pianos. A madman and an earnest poet. A strummer of delicate chords and a lover of bent and broken melodies. Ben Caplan is not any one thing. As he releases his second album, he's already gained a following in more than a dozen countries from Australia to Europe and across North America. It's no surprise. Caplan is simply unforgettable; with his huge beard and unruly mane, he is as visually striking as he is aurally compelling. His rough and textured tones cut through crowded halls; an enormous voice, roaring louder than raucous crowds. The microphone looks almost superfluous. But looks are deceiving; once he has your attention, Caplan can croon smoother than a glass of single malt whisky, pouring beauty into a harsh world.

Inspired in part by Eastern European and Jewish folk traditions, Ben Caplan mixes older musical sensibilities with his own soul, straight from his hairy heart. Lyrically, you've not heard the like before. Often edgy and dark, Caplan holds a mirror up to show us our nasty bits, singing about the ugliness and showing us that this darkness is the root of the sublime. His latest album release, Birds with Broken Wings, explodes with sounds both ancient and modern, with more than 30 musicians and even more instruments, combining acoustic sounds from around the world. It was listed on CBC Radio's 50 Best Canadian Albums of 2015, reached #1 on Earshot's National Folk/Roots/Blues chart, and was accepted into the Baker & Taylor NPR Discover Songs library. It's all smoothly blended by the hottest international production team around. It's uncharted territory, and Caplan's leading the way.

For Countdown to Ecstasy it's all about respect. Respect for Steely Dan... Fagen, Becker and their world-class studio and touring musicians over the decades. Their jazz-infused meticulously-crafted, studio-perfected and tour-tested hits and deep cut gems. And oh, respect for the mad mad lyrics. Everything you expect from rock 'n roll and a whole lot more. Sex, drugs and fine spirits, infused with edgy and brilliant musings on age, phonies, bad girls, revolution and addiction. From zen buddhism to animal house. From cave drawings to apocalyptic vision and futuristic optimism.
This group of talented and eclectic musicians came together to bring their respect for this music and their love of performing to the stage. Spirit and musical integrity outweigh costumed replication for these folks, beyond the expectations for a typical cover/tribute band. Named for Steely Dan's 1973 sophomore album, Countdown to Ecstasy has dedicated themselves to this music and to their audience of hipsters, old-heads and youthful seekers of truth.

BATM consists of former ?Paranoid? rhythm section Troy Moser on bass and Don Hosler on drums along with a newly recruited guitarist Kevin McShaw and Greg Gory, a high energy frontman who will take you back to those halcyon days of the ?80s when Ozzy?s live shows thundered with a manic energy.
