The show brings together the musical stylings of Pervana and a rotating cast of Seattle burlesque artists to spice up your Tuesday nights with some tease and tunes. Our featured dancers bring a blend of neo and classic burlesque to showcase their stylistic flexibility -- and the band's! Pervana covers everything from jazz and blues to punk and pop and anything in between. You can catch Tuesday Tease every 3rd Tuesday at Substation!

Spring is busting out all over with this cast. The Island Flower, Ruby Mimosa, is always in full bloom whenever she's in front of a live band. She's joined by The Tinseled Tart, Miss Polly Wood, who'll teach you about the birds and the bees with her bump & grind, and Evilyn Sin Claire, who is celebrating vernal fecundity by shimmy shaking for two this spring! Hosted by smart-mouthed smart ass Sailor St. Claire and stage managed by the capable hands of Miss Huneybush.

Video game music cover band, CONTRABAND, will be celebrating the release of their second album, Reloaded. Contraband performs modern jazz/fusion arrangements of video game music from the 1980s and 1990s, such as Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Castlevania, Chrono Trigger and more. Their debut self-titled album featured jazz arrangements of the complete soundtrack from the 1987 run and gun Nintendo action game, Contra . The Reloaded band features an All-Star lineup of Seattle musicians which include Andy Coe on guitar, Cliff Colon on sax, Dvonne Lewis on drums, David Marriott on trombone, Eric Verlinde on keyboards, Farko Dosumov on bass, Jacques Willis on vibes, Justin Cottrell on sax, RL Heyer on guitar, and Tom Marriott on trumpet. California native Nicki Bluhm is a singer, songwriter and performer. In 2008 Bluhm released her first album,Toby's Song, and with its release put together her band The Gramblers. Nicki went on to release her second effortDriftwood(2012), establishing her and the band as a nationally touring act. While playing shows around the country she and the band decided to pass the time and long drives filming what became their viral "Van Sessions," covering nostalgic songs of their past. In the aftermath, Bluhm and The Gramblers became headliners, touring constantly throughout North America, including festivals like Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Newport Folk and Telluride Bluegrass.The band continued to record and put out two albums including their self-titledNicki Bluhm and The Gramblers(2013) and their most recent effort,Loved Wild Lost(2015), launching them on an extended US tour and their debut European tour. Known as the Cowboy Capital of the World for breeding so many world champion rodeo cowboys, Oakdale is stillWillys home and the setting for many of his songs.Despite coming from a long line of cattlemen his grandfather Walt was one of the most respected of his generation Willys first love was baseball. As a catcher, he had a gift for the nuances of calling a game from behind the plate. "The stunning, self-titled fourth album from the Kentucky singer, songwriter, and guitarist Joan Shelley began, surprisingly, with a fiddle.



In the summer of 2014, Shelley fell for ?Hog of the Forsaken,? a bowed rollick at the end of Michael Hurley?s wayward folk circus, Long Journey, then nearly forty years old. Hurley?s voice, it seemed to Shelley, clung to the fiddle?s melody, dipping where it dipped and climbing where it climbed. This was a small, significant revelation, prompting the guitarist to trade temporarily six strings for four and, as she puts it, ?try to play like Michael.? That is, she wanted to sing what she played, to play what she sang. She tried it, for a spell, with the fiddle.


?Turns out, I wasn?t very good at fiddle,? remembers Shelley, chuckling. ?But I took that idea back to the guitar and tried that same method. I did it as a game to make these songs, a way to find another access point.?



But that wasn?t the end of the trials. After collaborating and touring with ace guitarist Nathan Salsburg for so many years, Shelley decided to put her entire guitar approach to the test, too. Each day, she would twist and turn into a different tuning, letting her fingers fumble along the strings until the start of a tune began to emerge. After playing the songs of her phenomenal third album, the acclaimed Over and Even, so many nights during so many shows, the trick pushed her hands out of her habits and into a short, productive span that yielded most of Joan Shelley.



It?s fitting that the set is self-titled. These are, after all, Shelley?s most assured and complete thoughts to date, with lyrics as subtle and sensitive as her peerless voice and a band that offers support through restraint and nuance. In eleven songs, this is the sound of Joan Shelley emerging as one of music?s most expressive emotional syndicates.



To get there, Shelley had a little more help than usual. In December 2016, she headed a few hours north to Chicago, where she and Salsburg joined Jeff Tweedy in Wilco?s Loft studio for five days. Spencer Tweedy, home from college, joined on drums, while James Elkington (a collaborator to both Tweedy and Salsburg) shifted between piano and resonator guitar. Jeff added electric accents and some bass, but mostly, he helped the band stay out of its own way. ?He was protecting the songs. He was stopping us before we went too far.? she says."

Winner of the 2018 Grammy ? ?Contemporary Instrumental Album? Lorber is a trailblazing pianist, composer, producer, bandleader and consummate artist.

Trailblazing pianist, composer, producer and bandleader Jeff Lorber is a consummate artist who continues to push himself to new plateaus. A groundbreaking Fender Rhodes pioneer along with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Joe Sample and Bob James, Lorber has triumphed as one of the most innovative musical minds in contemporary jazz. The multi Grammy-nominated pianist?s newest CD is a sterling example of his expansive musical roots, masterfully crafted harmonic and melodic sophistication, irresistible finger-poppin? grooves and intricate rhythmic sense. ?I came up with the name Prototype because we are always trying to up our game and come up with new exciting music that could be a prototype or innovative harbinger for the future of our musical style,? says the LA based pianist. Lorber, a Berklee College of Music alum who formerly majored in Chemistry at Boston College goes full throttle on Prototype, orchestrating like an alchemist in the lab concocting a majestic elixir of jazz, soul, funk, pop, R&B and gospel.

Prototype features longtime collaborators ? bassist Jimmy Haslip (founding member of The Yellowjackets) and drummer Gary Novak. ?From a production standpoint Jimmy adds a ?big picture? element. He contributes a lot with his warm bass sound and on the road he is without a doubt one of the finest soloists out there on his instrument.? Lorber adds, ?Gary?s very versatile, imaginative, super solid and gets a great sound. He really shines playing over the funky polyrhythmic grooves we record.? The newest member to the all-star unit is saxophonist Andy Snitzer, who like Lorber (and the Brecker Brothers) hails from Cheltenham, PA. Lorber states, ?Andy?s got a perfect approach. It?s soulful and melodic and he is not afraid of taking the music outside a bit.? Prototype also features special guests bassist Nathan East, guitarists Chuck Loeb, Larry Koonse and Paul Jackson, Jr. and saxophonist Dave Mann, among others. ?Writing is something that I really enjoy and I?m always coming up with ideas to work on,? states Jeff Lorber, who penned nine of the tracks on Prototype and co-wrote one with Jimmy Haslip. ?We put a lot of work, love and care into this record. I hope that everyone who hears it enjoys listening to it as much as we enjoyed writing and recording it. I think it?s the kind of record that will reap dividends by repeated listening because there?s a lot of great playing that you can only appreciate by really getting into it and checking out all the details.? Prototype opens with the spunky and electrifying ?Hyperdrive? hinting to the euphoric musical excursion that lies ahead. The track features guitarist and Jazz Funk Soul collaborator Chuck Loeb who calls Jeff ?an amazing guy and talent.? The Trashcan Sinatras are excited to announce an acoustic club tour of North America, where they will play not one, but two albums in their entirety. Following up on 2017?s ?All Night? acoustic tour, where the band played nearly every song from their 30 year catalog, Frank, John and Paul are bringing the ?One Night, Two Albums? tour to North America. The three piece lineup will perform their 1990 debut album Cake, as well as their 1993 follow-up, I?ve Seen Everything, which sees its 25 year anniversary in 2018. The band will fill out their sets with a selection of other songs from their catalog, which will vary from show to show.
