Join us for a lively afternoon of drawing inspired by "Salazar: Portraits of Influence in Spanish New Orleans, 1785 ? 1802," celebrating the New Orleans Tricentennial with artist and educator Mikhayla Anderson. A curated experience linking the exhibition to an immersive drawing exercise, this workshop will explore the elements that create a striking portrait, discuss the socio-cultural implications of why portraits were/are painted and practice the basic techniques of figure drawing with a live model. The workshop will take place in will take place in the historic rotunda of the Ogden Museum?s Patrick Taylor Library.

For ages 21 and older. All levels welcome.

Join us as we celebrate the opening of the Ogden Museum?s latest photography exhibition "Doris Ulmann: Portraits from the Highlands to the Low Lands" during Ogden After Hours. Pick up a specialty cocktail at the ?O? bar, listen to live music and explore the exhibition. Free for members, $13.50 general admission.

Working with photographer and educator Aubrey Edwards, campers will spend the first week learning basic elements of photography including composition, exposure, storytelling and functions of their camera. During the second week, students will focus on more advanced areas of photography such as photojournalism, portraiture, fashion and lighting. Campers will leave with a portfolio of edited work and participate in a student-curated Museum exhibition opening White Linen Night.

Explore a wide variety of 2D and 3D media in this FUNdamentals camp! We?ll focus on traditional techniques like drawing, painting, sculpture and collage and then add in mixed media, puppetry and more! Campers will work with professional visual artists to create both individual and collaborative works inspired by the Museum?s Collection and great works of art from around the world. In celebration of each session, family and friends are invited to a final gallery exhibition, showcasing camper artwork. New projects presented each session!

Working with Alison Parker of ricRACK NOLA, students will follow the process of a fashion designer from sketch to finished product. Classes will start with research and design techniques, figure drawing and construction (sewing by machine and hand), culminating in a realized ?couture? piece. Students will also work with Dance Instructor Liese Weber to create a choreographed fashion show presented at the end of the session.

Explore "The Whole Drum Will Sound: Women in Southern Abstraction" with exhibiting artist Bonnie Maygarden and create your own abstract composition. Informed by her use of trompe l?oeil illusions created with traditional materials and a variety of nontraditional techniques, Maygarden will lead participants in a workshop to make works of art that appear to have been made using technology, but actually employ purely hand processes.
