In 2011, Dylan Swinson moved back home to Charleston, South Carolina the day after his high school graduation in Camden, Delaware. Gathering influence from bands like Jimmy Eat World, Blink-182, and Yellowcard, he began playing open mics around the area while attending The Art Institute of Charleston for Filmmaking. After graduating from The Art Institute in 2014, Dylan used his Graduation money to record his first EP "Freedom & Solitude", leaning toward an Acoustic Alternative Singer/Songwriter feel. It was released on July 18, 2015.
Dylan currently records music at Hybrid Audio Solutions in Charleston, South Carolina with producers Thomas O' Brien (Trick Knee), Chris Viera, and Alan Price (Madam Adam). Dylan has gone on to play in Columbia, SC; Greenville, SC; Atlanta, GA; and Savannah, GA. He was awarded i93.7 Walterboro's Male Singer/Songwriter of the year and took home two Independent Tone Awards (Upcoming Alternative Rock Artist and Upcoming Rock Artist) in 2016.
He has opened for many touring artists such as A Sunday Fire, St. Maurice, Glass Mansions, Joseph Aaron, and Chase Huglin and released his sophomore EP "Prove em' Wrong Kid" on May 26, 2017 to positive reception. Some of the songs on this EP has found its way on rotation on 105.5 the Bridge in Charleston, South Carolina and WPRK in Winter Park, Florida.
Dylan performed at the 2017 Charleston Music Confab to rave reviews and has recently done a music session for Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. His most recent single "Run With Me" was premiered by Charleston Scene on February 27, 2018 and is currently recording his first full length album, due to be released sometime in 2019.
Dylan views songwriting as a way to not only express himself, but also to spread a message to people. Whether it is a message about unity, self image, or following your dreams, Dylan hopes to inspire people that it is never too late to follow your dreams and work for them no matter who is for you or against you. Believe in yourself when no one else will.
