Mark A. Russo is a freelance jazz trumpet player and music educator in the greater Cleveland area. He currently holds a Bachelor?s Degree in Music Performance in Jazz Studies from Bowling Green State University and a Bachelor?s Degree in Music Education (Magna cum laude) from Kent State University. Mr. Russo is currently promoting "Buhaina's Delight: The Music of Art Blakey", which is a group dedicated to the continual awarness of the music of The Jazz Messengers. He has shared the stage with such artists as Ken Peplowski, Curtis Fuller, Benny Golson, Carl Allen, Ingrid Jensen, John Bailey, Marvin Stamm, Allen Vizzutti, Randy Johnston, Wayne Bergeron, and Mike Lee.

Vibraphonist Behn Gillece has built a reputation on the New York jazz scene as a virtuosic instrumentalist and prolific composer. Walk Of Fire (2017 Posi-Tone), his third album as leader, features a stellar group with a frontline of Walt Weiskopf on tenor, Michael Dease on trombone and Bruce Harris on trumpet. This powerful frontline is accompanied by pianist Adam Birnbaum, bassist Clovis Nicolas, and drummer Jason Tiemann who make Gillece?s ten original compositions groove and swing.

With inspiration from such legends as Milt Jackson and Bobby Hutcherson, Gillece has committed himself to the beautiful sounding vibraphone and has shined as a composer. A New Jersey native, Gillece had many early performance opportunities in his home state, as well as Philadelphia, before moving to New York City in 2006, where he has made quite a name for himself as a sought after sideman, as well as bandleader. Gillece?s first two debut albums as a leader, Mindset (2015 Posi-Tone) and Dare To Be (2016 Posi-Tone) made immediate splashes in the press and radio. As a co-leader with tenor saxophonist and label mate Ken Fowser, the duo have four critically acclaimed recordings on Posi-Tone which received international acclaim and extensive radio play. The vibraphonist has also appeared as a sideman on many recordings, most recently contributing his playing to albums by Walt Weiskopf, Melody Gardot, and Ensemble Novo (a Philadelphia-based group dedicated to Brazilian repertoire).

Gillece has performed his music throughout the world at venues which include the Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Kimmel Center, Smalls Jazz Club, Smoke Jazz Club, Fat Cat, Yoshi's, Chris? Jazz Cafe, and many others. Gillece has also appeared at music festivals worldwide, including the North Sea, Montreux, Nice, Ghent, Montreal, and Toronto festivals.

In addition to his robust performance life, Gillece also has a burgeoning career as a music educator. In addition to the various workshops he has given at colleges and universities across the world, he has prepared over 200 lessons for online instruction at vibesworkshop.com, which benefits percussion students internationally.

Gillece has a master?s degree from SUNY Purchase College, and has won many awards and honors including winning the 2008 Jazz Improvisation competition at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, participating in the 2009 Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residency, and winning the Generations competition in 2009. Gillece is an endorsing artist for Malletech.

Shawn Maxwell formed his style early on while growing up in the rich musical history of the Joliet, Illinois school music programs. From the time a clarinet and saxophone first touched his lips, Maxwell knew that music was his calling. With conviction and abilities that belied his age, it was equally clear to others that Shawn Maxwell was destined to be a musician. He quickly became a celebrated performer in the Joliet Central High School band program where his prowess as a soloist was on regular display. Shawn further refined his art in a post-secondary setting, absorbing all that his instructors could teach ? earning a Bachelor?s Degree in Music from Millikin University in 1999. Shawn then signed with the prestigious and legendary Conn-Selmer Company to join their Performance and Educational Artist Roster.

After starting his professional career touring internationally, across the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, Maxwell returned home to Chicago. His multi-instrumental talents have been lauded by fellow musicians and critics alike and Maxwell has become one the preeminent performers in the Chicago jazz landscape.

In late 2004, Maxwell took his group, The Shawn Maxwell Quartet, into the studio to record the tracks for what would eventually become his debut release, ?Originals?. The album showcased Maxwell?s composition, arranging, and production skills while also highlighting the impressive skills of his group. Brad Walseth, of jazzchicago.net wrote that the album ??is like a refreshing burst of fresh air through the jazz world that can often seem closed and stale.?

2008 brought the release of his second album, ?Originals II,? consisting of twelve compositions that further highlight Shawn?s maturation as a musician and band leader. In 2010 Shawn recorded his first CD, ?Maxwell?s House,? for the Chicago Sessions Jazz Label. ?Maxwell?s House? features his current quartet performing ten new originals. In addressing the album, Neil Tesser wrote, ?His alto timbre sits in a lineage exemplified by past giants like Jackie McLean and Eric Dolphy, and by such latter-day players as Arthur Blythe and Steve Slagle.?

2011 marked the release of his second album, ?Urban Vigilante? on the Chicago Sessions record label. Heralded at 3 stars by Downbeat Magazine, this album continues to race up the charts while garnering critical praise. The Shawn Maxwell Quartet can be seen performing at some of the most celebrated clubs and festivals across the country.

Roots music legends, Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore, have been friends for 30 years, but only recently realized they had never played music with each other before. So in 2017, Grammy winner Alvin and Grammy nominee Gilmore, decided to hit the highway to swap songs, tell stories, and share their life experiences.

Though Texas born Gilmore was twice named Country Artist of the Year by Rolling Stone, and California native Alvin first came to fame in the hard rocking rhythm and blues band The Blasters, they discovered that their musical roots in old blues and folk music are exactly the same. In these spontaneous shows, audiences enjoyed classic original compositions from the two, and also songs from a wide spectrum of songwriters and styles ? from Merle Haggard to Sam Cooke to the Youngbloods.

Mutually energized and inspired by these performances, Dave and Jimmie agreed to hit the road again in 2018?this time with a full band and some new stories to share.
