As always, the opportunity to host Brooklyn's finest progressive Sabbathian warriors on our stage is always a privilege we're happy to oblige! On their 2nd Smatter appearance for SABBATH ASSEMBLY this top tier occult rock act will be supporting their brand new (6th!) record on the amazing Svart Records and for those uninitiated feature current and ex-members of such mighty acts as Gorguts, Dysrhythmia, Hammers of Misfortune, Kayo Dot, and WITTR and worship at the dark altar of Iommi as we all very well should. They'll be touring with NWOBHM influenced, hook-laden, classic heavy metal/rock of Brooklyn neighbors SANHEDRIN on their debut RVA appearance and will be joined locally by two of our favorites, the metallic space-doom of BOOK OF WYRMS and fellow psych/doom/occult rock rulers PETRICHOR! Hell yeah!!

SABBATH ASSEMBLY: SABBATH ASSEMBLY returns with their sixth album, "Rites of Passage," led by vocalist Jamie Myers (ex-Hammers of Misfortune,Wolves in the Throneroom), featuring guitarist Kevin Hufnagel (Gorguts, Dysrhythmia) who has been with the band since 2011, original SA drummer Dave Nuss, bassist Johnny Deblase, who also played on the self-titled album, and the new addition of otherworldly second guitarist Ron Varod (Kayo Dot, Psalm Zero, Zvi).
In a time when others in the occult rock genre remain preoccupied with fantasy and dark mysticism, Sabbath Assembly finds the most profound of transformative moments in everyday experience. "Rites of Passage" presents its listeners with a set of songs that the band hopes will mirror their own experiences of transition, and in some way provide necessary passage.

SANHEDRIN: Formed in 2015 by New York heavy music veterans Erica Stoltz (ex-Lost Goat, ex-Amber Asylum), Jeremy Sosville (also of Black Anvil), and Nathan Honor (ex-Vermefug), SANHEDRIN's sound is familiar but not derivative. A band rooted in classic heavy metal and hard rock, but unafraid to cross genre boundaries. Lyrically, Sanhedrin often forgoes the traditional fantasy-based themes found in much heavy metal in favor of more real-life themes of inner struggle and social commentary.
2015 saw the release of their cassette demo, followed by several shows in 2016. Sharing bills with Acid King, Satan ,Magic Circle, Khemmis, and many others, Sanhedrin have always held their own with tight, high-intensity performances. Sanhedrin is currently putting the final touches on their debut full-length album. Tracked and mixed at Menegroth Studios in Queens, NY by renowned engineer Colin Marston, this LP is a collection of 8 songs spanning a wide array of emotions and sounds
