The Soul Rebels
Eight piece brass ensemble THE SOUL REBELS are riding high in 2017 after touring four continents including Europe, Australia, debuting in China and Japan, selling out shows, backing up and collaborating live with Nas, G-Eazy, Pretty Lights, Curren$y, Joey Bada$$, Talib Kweli, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Marilyn Manson among many others, and opening for Lauryn Hill.
The Soul Rebels started with an idea - to expand upon the pop music they loved on the radio and the New Orleans brass tradition they grew up on. They took that tradition and blended funk and soul with elements of hip hop, jazz and rock all within a brass band context. The band has built a career around an eclectic live show that harnesses the power of horns and drums in a deep pocket funk party-like atmosphere. When not touring, The Soul Rebels' weekly show at New Orleans' Le Bon Temps Roulé is known to erupt with the kind of contagious, shout-along musical mayhem that The Rebels bring with them wherever they perform.
The Soul Rebels continue to chart new territory as they combine topnotch musicianship and songs with grooves that celebrate dancing, life, funk and soul.
"It?s possible that no band in the world has a more impressive resume than The Soul Rebels. The eight-piece brass ensemble out of New Orleans plays upward of 250 shows a year in every conceivable setting from jazz to hip-hop to funk and rock, and their list of collaborators is too voluminous to do it any justice: Nas, Metallica, Rakim, Arcade Fire, Maceo Parker, Marilyn Manson, Slick Rick, Green Day, Talib Kweli, The Roots?" - PASTE
"The Soul Rebels, New Orleans' finest brass ensemble..." - VICE
"The Soul Rebels are the missing link between Public Enemy and Louis Armstrong." - VILLAGE VOICE
"New Orleans' top-shelf brass ensemble The Soul Rebels...wind-wielding wizardry of New Orleans' finest." - OKAYPLAYER
"The Soul Rebels are rebelling against one, albeit detestable thing: starchy paint-by-numbers music." - VIBE
Victory's music is a fusion between Soul music and Folk Music. Whether Victory is performing classics or original compositions, she has a way of tailoring each song with her voice and guitar to fit her unique style. Some people say that Victory is in the lane of Tracy Chapman, Roberta Flack, and Nina Simone. But beyond those three, Victory brings an entirely new youthful element to the music world, an indescribable spiritual depth mixed with her youthful interpretation of sound influencing her artistic expressions. Moreover Victory colors a lot of her musical arrangements with rich jazz chords as she is rooted and grounded in Jazz tradition.
