Donavon Frankenreiter is coming to The Catalyst Club on Friday, June 22, 2018!!

Donavon Frankenreiter's new album, "The Heart," officially marks the start of the singer-songwriter's second decade as a solo recording artist. It's been over ten years since the release of his self-titled debut, and in that time he has grown, not only as a musician, but also as a man. He's raising a family and nurturing two creative careers-one onstage, one in the waves-but on top of all that, he's still learning what makes him tick. And so, naturally, he named his album after his ticker.

"All these songs are as close to me singing from the heart as I can," says Frankenreiter. "It's a complete record; the songs are intertwined. I had to call it 'The Heart,' that was the theme of the record."

Post Animal is coming to The Catalyst Atrium on Monday, June 18, 2018!!

Chicago-based Post Animal are a band of brothers. Though they formed in 2014 and just began touring in 2017, their affinity for slick riffs, pop hooks, and psychedelic tendencies join them in a bond much tighter than their years suggest. Initially formed when childhood friends, bassist Dalton Allison and guitarist Matt Williams, met keyboardist and guitarist Jake Hirshland, the band?s sound began to take shape when the three enlisted some more pals from both the Chicago music scene and through their time working at local burger joints. Rounding out the band?s lineup, Post Animal is completed by drummer Wesley Toledo and guitarists Javi Reyes and Joe Keery.

Sunflower Bean Set to Return with ?Twentytwo in Blue,? a Second Album Made For Today

Blue, as Julia Cumming of Brooklyn?s Sunflower Bean points out, is something of a ?loaded color.? The word is of course often synonymous with sadness-certainly blues music isn?t known for its laughs. But blue is also the United Nations? internationally recognized color of peace; the stripe in the rainbow on the Pride flag that represents serenity; and the ?emotional color? of Sunflower Bean?s upcoming sparkling second album, Twentytwo in Blue. ?We definitely don?t want it to come across as a sad record,? explains Cumming. ?Blue is kind of hopeful, and we wanted to explore that color with this record.? The new LP by vocalist and bassist Cumming, drummer Jacob Faber and guitarist and vocalist Nick Kivlen is many things: rousing, romantic, topical, empathetic and insightful. But defeatist it?s not.

All three band members will in fact be 22 when Twentytwo in Blue is released in March of 2018, almost two years and two months after Sunflower Bean?s hazy, charming debut LP, Human Ceremony. They were two momentous years for the trio, who?ve now toured the world multiple times over on headlining stints and as support for indie rock essentials like DIIV, Best Coast, The Vaccines, Pixies and Wolf Alice. By the month, they only grew in accomplishment, and gained a newly confident voice they bring to the second album, one that doesn?t shy away from addressing the other events of those two years-political changes and cultural shifts that have left America and the world stupefied. ?This has been such an unbelievable time,? says Kivlen. ?I can?t imagine any artist of our ilk making a record and not have it be seen through the lens of the political climate of 2016 and 2017. So I think there?s a few songs on the record that are definitely heavily influenced by this sort of-whatever you want to say what the Trump administration has been.? ?A shit show,? offers a helpful Faber.

Electric Six is coming to The Catalyst Atrium on Tuesday, July 3, 2018!!!

Formerly known as the Wildbunch, the Detroit sextet Electric Six mix garage, disco, punk, new wave, and metal into cleverly dumb, in-your-face songs like "Danger! High Voltage," which reached number two on the British charts early in 2003. Singer Dick Valentine, guitarists Rock and Roll Indian and Surge Joebot, bassist Disco, and drummer M. formed the Wildbunch in 1996 (keyboardist Tait Nucleus? joined the band later), releasing their debut single, "I Lost Control (Of My Rock & Roll)," and the eight-track An Evening with the Many Moods of the Wildbunch's Greatest Hits...Tonight! that year on Uchu Cult Records. They also released 1999's full-length on that imprint. The group switched to Flying Bomb for singles like 1997's "The Ballade of MC Sucka DJ," the Christmas single "Flying Bomb Surprise Package, Vol. 1," and 2001's "Danger! High Voltage," which became an underground hit, particularly in the U.K.
