This is a milestone year for the Posies, fronted by Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer. The band began its career exactly 30 years prior by releasing a home-recorded cassette called "Failure", which to their complete surprise became an instant favorite around the Northwest, earning them critical accolades, radio airplay, and major label interest all in a very short time.
The band went on to sign with Geffen records where they were labelmates with Nirvana and Sonic Youth, and steadily built a following around the world via their infectious hooks and furious live shows.

To take this anniversary celebration around the globe, the Posies, who have had a few lineup changes over the years (always based around the founding duo of Auer and Stringfellow) will be on tour as the 1992-1994 lineup that made "Frosting on the Beater", their breakthrough album ? Jon and Ken will be complemented by drummer Mike Musburger and bassist Dave Fox. It?s been almost a quarter century since this quartet has been on the road, and recent warm-up shows have been as explosive as those played by the twentysomethings of yore. Catch the band on tour this spring in North America, this summer at festivals, and this fall in Europe ? their time is now, again.

20th Anniversary, performing War All The Time

The New Jersey sextet who released six records, since their formation in 1997 and enjoyed cumulative worldwide sales of over three million units before disbanding in 2011 originally reformed (at two days notice) in 2016 to play the Sound on Sound Festival in Atlanta, although in typical Thursday fashion, it was the charitable element of their performance that enticed them and not the almighty dollar. After triumphant appearances at Riot Fest in Denver and Chicago, 2016 was topped off with magical (sold out) home coming shows at their spiritual home of The Starland Ballroom in NJ.

In 2017, the band undertook a successful 24 date headline tour of the USA with Touche Amore and Basement in tow, as support. Never afraid to wear their hearts (or their politics) on their sleeves the band criss-crossed the USA performing under two sidebanners that read ?Refugee?s Welcome Here? and 'Protect Immigrant Communities? in open defiance of the atrocious politics facing their immigrant brothers and sisters. This outspoken stance not surprisingly garnered both controversy and respect, two notions long synonymous with Thursday.

The band also went on to headline the Northside festival in Brooklyn to a record-breaking crowd.

Don?t call it a comeback and don?t call it nostalgia, the band?s singer Geoff succinctly summarizes their reunion:

?This coming year, we are going to take the show across all the cities and countries that embraced us so thoroughly "back in the day." You can probably guess a few of them.

The problem with nostalgia, and memory in general, is that it's a destructive process. Much like recording over the same cassette, again and again, the quality degrades with each pass. Put in a modern way, our memory is like a hard drive: the more you try to fit on it, the further it compresses, lowering the quality of the new memory and the original experience, too.

Rather than endlessly overwriting the original experiences that we shared with so many of you, we've been discussing how and when to wrap up this trip down memory lane. In the next year, we'll be announcing our international tours as well as a final group of dates in the US, that will be totally unlike anything we've ever attempted to do.

Beyond that, we will only return in the event of new music. And new music will only come if we feel it's truly inspired and adds a new dimension to the band. In our humble opinions, there are only a few bands that have put out records worth coming back for. Bands like Portishead and MBV.

We have loved every minute of these shows. We look forward to 2018 and everything it brings.?

Tracyanne & Danny is a new collaborative project between singer-songwriters Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura) and Danny Coughlan (Crybaby).

Tracyanne hails from Glasgow, Scotland. London-born Danny is based in Bristol, England.

Their paths first crossed in 2013 when introduced by mutual music industry pals. Tracyanne dug Danny?s Crybaby album (released on Helium Records) and invited him to open some Camera Obscura shows in the UK.

Mutual artistic respect led to the swapping of song ideas, but tentative plans to work together were set aside while Camera Obscura wrote, recorded, released, and promoted their fifth album Desire Lines.

Following the death of Camera Obscura?s Carey Lander, all band activity stopped. Time passed.

Tracyanne and Danny revisited the idea of collaborating.

A pool of songs were honed and crafted. On the suggestion of their manager (and Teenage Fanclub drummer) Francis Macdonald, they recorded at Clashnarrow, a studio in Helmsdale in the highlands of Scotland owned by the esteemed Edwyn Collins.

Sessions took place throughout 2016 and 2017. Edwyn co-produced along with engineer and multi-instrumentalist Sean Read (Dexys).

They had the use of Edwyn?s vintage gear (including the guitar pedal which features on his global hit ?A Girl Like You?) as they invoked a range of shared influences: The Roches, Dion, Lou Reed, The Flamingos, Serge Gainsbourg, Santo & Johnny, and The Style Council.

Edywn pops up with a guest vocal on first single ?Alabama,? an intentionally ?joyous? tribute to Tracyanne?s late friend and band mate Carey Lander.

Tracyanne & Danny is not a diverting curio or a wee stop on the road to someplace else. It is a shared artistic aesthetic, forged over time. They have figured out how to fit round each other and work together, creating a rewarding musical synergy. There will be more songs.

Meanwhile, they are looking forward to releasing and promoting the first fruits of their labors with live shows throughout UK, Europe, North America, and beyond.
