Pianos Become The Teeth have never been the kind of band who are easy to distill into a simple soundbite and that?s more evident than ever on the band's fourth full-length Wait For Love, an album that sees the Baltimore-based act reconciling their aggressive past with the atmospheric turns of 2014's Keep You. The result is a collection of songs that eschews stylistic traps in order to focus on songwriting and feels like a full-realization of what the band have only hinted at in the past. The players?vocalist Kyle Durfey, guitarists Mike York and Chad McDonald, bassist Zac Sewell and drummer David Haik?may be the same this time around but their lives have continued to unravel and that journey lies at the emotional core of Wait For Love, which is a creative collaboration in the truest sense of the term.

?For Wait For Love my goal was just to write really interesting songs that pushed us forward as a band and allowed us to do something different than we had ever done in the past,? York explains. In order to get out of their comfort zone, the group isolated themselves in a cabin on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for extended writing excursions and ended up with a windfall of 30 songs by the time they entered the studio. Although Durfey?whose wife had recently had a child?was absent at some of these sessions, ultimately that event allowed the vocalist to approach Wait For Love from a different perspective. ?I had so much more time to sit and ponder these songs and how I wanted to approach them,? he recalls. ?I think that changed by approach to vocals because it wasn't this immediate thing, it was more thought out.?

In order to capture their vision the group once again joined forces with Keep You's producer Will Yip (Title Fight, Circa Survive) who acted like a sixth member when it came to shaping these songs. ?Working with Will made us a better band as a whole because I think it helped us refine who we are and think about how to approach this record in a different way than we would have on our own,? York explains. That isn't to say that Wait For Love didn't have its share of setbacks?mainly the fact that Haik experienced a mysterious back injury a few days into the recording session?but even those unexpected events ultimately contributed to the overall sound of the album. ?I think a goal of both of us and Will was to write solid songs and not be afraid of being catchy while still sounding like Pianos Become The Teeth,? Durfey explains.

Correspondingly the album opens with ?Fake Lightning,? a transcendent musical meditation that pairs ambient guitars with impassioned vocals and Haik's driving drumming. Seamlessly that song gives way to ?Charisma,? which features fuzzed-out bass and melodies that hang in the air long after the moment has passed. ?I really wanted this to be an album where things weren't neatly defined and there were moments where you couldn't tell what was a guitar and what was a keyboard or sample,? York explains. This is exemplified on ?Bitter Red? a song that's cinematic in scope yet nuanced enough to fit perfectly in the band?s catalog. In a similar spirit, Durfey's lyrics are still just as poetic but see him shifting his perspective from the loss of his father to what it feels like to be one himself.

?This album all ties into the idea of love and how love comes to you during different times in life in good and bad ways,? Durfey explains, adding that it was refreshing to further stretch out stylistically on this record after he transitioned from screaming to singing on Keep You. ?To me this everything on this record is incredibly personal and as specific as it has been on every record but it's not solely based on one specific figure the way it has been in the past and I'm happy about that,? Durfey explains. That said, those familiar concepts of loss are present on the album's closing song ?Blue,? which approaches the topic from a more hopeful perspective as a new father imagines the endless ways his own son's life will play out.

Pianos Become The Teeth could have easily remade a screamo-inspired album reminiscent of 2009's Old Pride or 2011's The Lack Long After and no one would fault them for it. But Wait For Love is a rare example of a band still discovering their sound over a decade into their career, a fact that?s present in every note of this expansive album. From the haunting ?Dry Spells? to the experimentally minded ?Bay Of Dreams,? there are moments on Wait For Love that are so dreamy they?re otherworldly, whether the catalyst is a sample or a single note. ?This album has some of our most interesting guitar work but also some of the most pulled back ideas of what the record should be,? York adds.

?I think we all made an effort to be open to things and see what came out especially in the studio with this album, ?Durfey summarizes when asked about the ambitious nature of Wait For Love. ?When you've been playing music together for as long as we have it's easy to get in a rut,? he continues. ?Wait For Love still sounds like us but there are different kinds of songs here and I don't think that would have happened if it weren't for making records like Keep You and being open to pushing forward into that uncharted territory. I?m just really excited for people to have their own experience with the album.?

The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die have announced the forthcoming release of their third full-length, Always Foreign. Due out September 29 on Epitaph Records, Always Foreign follows the Connecticut-bred collective?s acclaimed 2015 album Harmlessness.

Produced by TWIABP guitarist Christopher Teti, Always Foreign confronts everything from the opioid epidemic to xenophobia to emotional abuse in relationships. Throughout the album, TWIABP match their sprawling arrangements and layered lyricism with a raw emotionality.

?When we started writing we were fresh off Trump being elected, so there?s an anger to the album that?s different from what we?ve done in the past,? says TWIABP vocalist David F Bello. ?There?s a lot more resistance thinking throughout the songs?not in a way that?s strictly anti-Trump, but also addressing things like white supremacy and controlling elements of the state.?

Along with Bello, Cyr, and Teti, the TWIABP lineup includes Tyler Bussey (guitar, banjo, synth, vocals), Dylan Balliett (guitar, vocals), Katie Dvorak (synth, vocals), and Steven K Buttery (percussion, vocals). Formed in Connecticut in 2009, TWIABP made their full-length debut with Whenever, If Ever (a 2013 release hailed as ?revolutionary? by Pitchfork) and later delivered Harmlessness (praised as ?bold and complex and dazzling? by Noisey and ?grandiose and dramatic? by NPR).

Plowing Into The Field Of Love is the third album from Copenhagen?s Iceage. It is new, bold and forceful. Channeling the rage and emotion of their tempestuous early releases into finely honed musicianship, Plowing Into The Field of Love features piano, mandolin, viola and organ atop Johan Suurballe-Wieth?s razor-sharp guitars and the lolloping, synchronized rhythm section of Jacob Tvilling Pless and Dan Kjær Nielsen. The record has a clear, uncompressed sound, and Elias Bender Rønnenfelt?s desperate vocals are out front, nakedly accountable for the words.

On this album, Rønnenfelt sings of what it is like to be out in the world, dizzy with its offerings, perched on a plateau of false confidence, bliss, fantasy and delirious self-denial. The autobiographical ?Forever,? for which Iceage have shared the video today, begins with a pretty repetitive motif over the words, ?I always had the sense that I was split in two,? and climaxes with a sunburst of horns recalling South African spiritual jazz great Mongezi Feza: ?If I could dive into the other, I?d lose myself forever.? At the other extreme, the album evokes a sort of euphoria, especially in the unexpectedly upbeat country number ?The Lord?s Favorite.? Yet desperation and loss lurks behind. This is an album about seeing, learning, and rejecting things, in a cycle that repeats and builds. The reference points are wildly varied, but the sound is uniquely and darkly Iceage as the record fights with itself, in the story it tells, and the sound it makes. It is not, however, a remotely difficult record. It is the anthemic sound of a band in motion, unafraid of change, filled with curiosity, musicality and ambition.

At only 24 years of age, Oklahoma native Parker Millsap is quickly making a name for himself with his captivating live performances, soulful sound, and character-driven narratives. He recently wrapped up a banner year, which included his network television debut on CONAN, an invitation to play with Elton John at the Apple Music Festival, an Austin City Limits taping and an Americana Music Association nomination for Album of the Year, as well as winning the International Folk Music Awards' Artist Of the Year. Parker's most recent release, The Very Last Day, has received praise from The New York Times, The Boston Globe, LA Times, Austin Chronicle and Rolling Stone to name a few.

Parker grew up in the tiny town of Purcell, OK (pop. 5,952) where he attended a Pentecostal church with his family three times a week for most of his youth. Though Parker doesn't consider himself very religious these days, the experiences engraved upon him inform his songwriting. Blending that fire and brimstone preaching with rock, country, blues and Waits-ian imagery, he has created a sound uniquely his own.

Parker first picked up an acoustic guitar at nine, then plugged in and went electric after getting into Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan, eventually starting a cover band, Fever in Blue, with classmate Michael Rose who still plays bass with him today. After graduating high school, he moved to Northern California, where he interned at Prairie Sun Recording, the studio where Tom Waits recorded Bone Machine and Mule Variations. Returning to Oklahoma, he put down the electric guitar and got into songwriting, releasing an indie album in 2012, Palisade, which he sold from the back of his van.

A trip to Nashville found Parker playing at the Tin Pan South songwriter's festival, where his performance impressed Old Crow Medicine Show's manager so much that he invited Parker to open a string of dates for the band, later leading to a slot on their New Year's Eve gig at the Ryman Auditorium. Parker has also opened dates for Jason Isbell, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Lake Street Dive, Lucinda Williams and Shovels & Rope.

?I like to set goals for myself that are impossible to reach,? he explains. ?That way, I always have something to aim for, a better song, different characters, new stories. I just want to pay the bills and feed my dog, and maybe buy a new guitar every now and then. That?s all I need. I don?t want to be Elvis Presley, but I wouldn?t complain if a million girls screamed for me, either. Just don?t tell my girlfriend that.? Parker Millsap is ready to share his Oklahoma roots with the rest of the country, and, hopefully, the world.

Tracyanne & Danny is a new collaborative project between singer-songwriters Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura) and Danny Coughlan (Crybaby).

Tracyanne hails from Glasgow, Scotland. London-born Danny is based in Bristol, England.

Their paths first crossed in 2013 when introduced by mutual music industry pals. Tracyanne dug Danny?s Crybaby album (released on Helium Records) and invited him to open some Camera Obscura shows in the UK.

Mutual artistic respect led to the swapping of song ideas, but tentative plans to work together were set aside while Camera Obscura wrote, recorded, released, and promoted their fifth album Desire Lines.

Following the death of Camera Obscura?s Carey Lander, all band activity stopped. Time passed.

Tracyanne and Danny revisited the idea of collaborating.

A pool of songs were honed and crafted. On the suggestion of their manager (and Teenage Fanclub drummer) Francis Macdonald, they recorded at Clashnarrow, a studio in Helmsdale in the highlands of Scotland owned by the esteemed Edwyn Collins.

Sessions took place throughout 2016 and 2017. Edwyn co-produced along with engineer and multi-instrumentalist Sean Read (Dexys).

They had the use of Edwyn?s vintage gear (including the guitar pedal which features on his global hit ?A Girl Like You?) as they invoked a range of shared influences: The Roches, Dion, Lou Reed, The Flamingos, Serge Gainsbourg, Santo & Johnny, and The Style Council.

Edywn pops up with a guest vocal on first single ?Alabama,? an intentionally ?joyous? tribute to Tracyanne?s late friend and band mate Carey Lander.

Tracyanne & Danny is not a diverting curio or a wee stop on the road to someplace else. It is a shared artistic aesthetic, forged over time. They have figured out how to fit round each other and work together, creating a rewarding musical synergy. There will be more songs.

Meanwhile, they are looking forward to releasing and promoting the first fruits of their labors with live shows throughout UK, Europe, North America, and beyond.

Revolutionary music may seem hard to come by in these days and times. Long gone is the era of artists like Bob Marley, The Clash, Stevie Wonder and Patti Smith getting airplay and bringing their messages to the masses. But that doesn?t mean that the revolution isn?t still brewing in the hearts and minds of many people around the globe.

Meet Mike Love. One of reggae music?s rising stars. Born and raised in Oahu, Hawaii to a musical family that spans generations, Mike Love brings a multitude of influences to the table, all tied together by the common goal of making the world a better place.

Which is no mean feat. On his debut album, The Change I?m Seeking, Love harkens the legends of roots reggae in both his lyrics and his sound, but never relies on any one genre to hold him down. Coming from a wealth of influences ? he started out playing classical piano as a teenager and later would perform in high school bands that were more akin to the grunge sounds of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam ? Mike Love fuses the simple rhythms of classic reggae with the complex changes of the classical and rock music he was first trained on to come up with a style wholly unique to him. Mike is currently wrapping up his second album titled Love Will Find A Way.

But it?s his message, his passion, the wisdom behind his words that truly resonate with his fans. ?It?s always been about the depth,? Mike Love explains, ?I?ve never been into music that was shallow. I?m still learning. I?m still learning about where I?m going and where I want to be. All the music is a learning tool to me too. I just make myself open to it. All the messages that come through the music, it?s not just coming through me and my wisdom, because I don?t think I?m that wise of a person. I don?t think I?m some wise elder or anything like that. I just make myself open to the music and it just comes through. To me it?s just as much of a teaching for me as it is for anyone who is listening to it and is open to it.?

His songs take you on a journey, one of healing and inspiration. One designed to help you on your path to knowledge, wisdom and understanding. On ?Permanent Holiday? he takes you on a lyrical quest for freedom, both his and yours. He laments the ills of the world but also discusses solutions and ideas to change them.
