Becky Boyd has been playing the Cleveland club scene for over 30 years. Her outstanding vocals combine for a smooth and melodic tone. Besides singing with many bands throughout the years, Becky has opened for such noted artists as The Outlaws, Brownsville Station, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Fairport Convention, Buddy Miles, Robert Lockwood Jr., Billy Branch, Walter Trout, among others. She has been nominated several times as best vocalist in the Free Times and Scene. Her band, Becky Boyd & Groove Train features bassist Alfredo Guerrieri, drummer Jim Wall, and keyboardist Chris Hanna.

Roots music legends, Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore, have been friends for 30 years, but only recently realized they had never played music with each other before. So in 2017, Grammy winner Alvin and Grammy nominee Gilmore, decided to hit the highway to swap songs, tell stories, and share their life experiences.

Though Texas born Gilmore was twice named Country Artist of the Year by Rolling Stone, and California native Alvin first came to fame in the hard rocking rhythm and blues band The Blasters, they discovered that their musical roots in old blues and folk music are exactly the same. In these spontaneous shows, audiences enjoyed classic original compositions from the two, and also songs from a wide spectrum of songwriters and styles ? from Merle Haggard to Sam Cooke to the Youngbloods.

Mutually energized and inspired by these performances, Dave and Jimmie agreed to hit the road again in 2018?this time with a full band and some new stories to share.

Author?s Night is one of 20 unique events being celebrated during Cleveland History Days
Cleveland?s history is America?s history. Predicted for greatness by George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. A city founded on the shores of Lake Erie. Shaped by a crooked Cuyahoga River that defined its identity and grew its wealth. A wealth fueled by the many immigrant groups who settled here. It is a city that emerged from the Gilded Age as a leader in policy and programs, building not only a great city but a greater civilization. This same river would catch fire on a hot summer day in June of 1969. It became a poster child of a national movement to save the environment. Today, industrial freighters share a clean Cuyahoga River with wildlife and recreational watercraft. Cleveland is writing a new chapter in its comeback story.
