BIO: Based out of Rochester, NY, The Pearlz Band is an Americana group with a sound merged from folk, country, rhythm and blues, and rock & roll. Their arrangements are built around solid instrumentation on acoustic guitars, bass, dobro, slide guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, fiddle and harmonica.
They then add their distinctive vocals to create stunning "unplugged" renditions of some of the finest songs ever written. Together as a trio since 2008, they have crafted a unique and engaging blend of new and old favorites, each song performed masterfully by these seasoned, charismatic entertainers.
While they mostly perform as a trio, they do have a "fourth" Pearl! Whenever called for, needed, or desired, their "expanded" group adds a full drum set into the mix, so you can dance the night away with a backbeat!
Dave Santa Maria: Dave is a seasoned guitarist, bassist (both acoustic and electric) and vocalist. Dave has a vast repertoire of tunes from different genres - rock, pop, country, folk, swing and blues. His band bio includes Kit-n-Kaboodle, the Park Avenue Playboys, and Pay Dirt (founding member). From 1990 - 2000, Pay Dirt was one of Rochester's best Top 40 contemporary country bands playing festivals, concerts, radio events, and was one of the "house band's" at The Roost (Rochester's most popular country nightspots). Dave's friendly, enthusiastic and humorous personality has attracted audiences of all ages.
Jerry Curry: Jerry started playing acoustic guitar in the fifth grade, learning old time standards and Irish folk music from the old masters in Livingston county. One year later, he traded his bicycle to a kid down the street for an electric guitar and started playing rock and roll. He has performed with numerous bands in the past including the folk rock band Quarter Moon, the country group Pay Dirt and the 1970's tribute showband Joey T and The Formula. In addition to vocals and guitar, Jerry adds Dobro, ukulele and harmonica to enhance the band's unique sound.
Nancy Drum: Nancy (Park) Drum began playing the Rochester club scene and events at the age of 14. She is versatile on the delta blues bottleneck slide guitar, 5-string banjo, guitar, mandolin, and fiddle. With a vocal style that's a cross between Bonnie Raitt and Patsy Cline, Nancy has opened for blues legends John Hammond Jr. and Paul Butterfield, and she was mentored by (and performed with) the late legendary gospel blues artist - Leslie Riddle. Her resume includes the Beale Street Blues Band, Blues-Grass, the St. James Band and Pay Dirt - where she played with her husband Bill Drum (on drums!) and her Pearlz band mates Dave Santa Maria and Jerry Curry. During that time, she was offered a master recording session with Castle Records/Castle Music Group out of Nashville.
