Mood Cultivation Project formed in early 2000, intended as a one-time concert ?project.? Chemistry kept members Joel Woodson (bass), George Smith (guitar), Kelly Sanders (percussion) and Robby Gates (drums) together experimenting to find their sound. Later that year, Josh Casstevens (guitar) joined, followed by Joey Johnson (vocals, harmonica) in early 2001 and Tommy Smith (keys) in 2002. Drawing from many different influences including their Appalachian roots, the band created a sound uniquely their own; blending rock, country, jam, psychedelia and more. The band performed hundreds of shows between 2000-2007 opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, Drive By Truckers, many other national artists, as well as playing many music festivals and other venues. In 2002, MCP recorded and released a self-titled live album followed by the 2004 studio release, ?In This Space and Time.? Before they recorded the next album, the group disbanded in 2007. Everyone from the band continued to play music in various settings over the next several years, including eventually, Brickfoot Down; which by 2014, included six members of MCP. Catalyzed by a desire to help a friend of the band, Mood Cultivation Project reunited for a concert on 4-25-15 with Jonathan McMillan on drums. Tickets for the show quickly sold out. The show was a great success and refueled the chemistry that drove the band initially. Tragically, only a few weeks later, founding member and percussionist, Kelly Sanders, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 37. Although changed forever, the group plans to plow forward, beginning a new chapter for Mood Cultivation.

The Muddy Creek Players are the official house band of the Muddy Creek Music Hall. Founded in May 2015, by singer/songwriter Bill Heath, the band is a diverse group of musicians, performing original compositions, and timeless music from several decades. Bill (vocals/guitar) is accompanied by Shelly Stevens (vocals), Davidson Smith (drums), Ken Nocito (trumpet/keys/vocals),, Carlos Tolbert (sax/flute), Chad Huskey (guitar/vocals), and Evan Bryant (bass).

9daytrip is a Salisbury NC based Americana Blues Rock band that recently won the 2017 Carolina Music Awards for best Americana group. Their music is a blend of Americana (root's music) blues blended with country, folk and rock. They are an up and coming band, and we are excited to hear them in the music hall!


IPR?s The Scene has described the Michael Martin Band as a ??a gritty Americana group with Irish folk and country influences.? They have shared the stage with David Allan Coe, Shooter Jennings, Reverend Peyton?s Big Damn Band, Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, David Childers, Rumpke Mountain Boys, and John Michael Montgomery. They were recently featured on WDVX?s Blue Plate Special. The MMB is a hardworking band that loves to play. They can do it soft and sweet in the corner...or loud and rowdy! They have been building a hardcore following of cowboys, angels, freaks, hippies, and good old boys & girls.

A new concept for a new year! Once a month, on a Friday to be announced, we'll be bringing a one-off, one-of-a-kind show to the clubs of the Triad. A variety show, if you will - a rotating "house band," lots of guests, one-off mini-sets by veteran bands, new bands, pickup bands ... anything goes! A different theme, a different vibe, every month. We hope to include as many Triad musicians and bands as possible. And the best part is that it's all for charity! The proceeds from each show will benefit a different area non-profit. If you're interested in getting involved, let us know - pitch us ideas! We want fun, off-the-cuff ideas, not just your usual set. Get creative, y'all!

Hot Trail Mix is an innovative new Bluegrass band out of the Asheville/Boone NC area. The band has a rowdy youthful vigor that excites audiences of all ages, shapes and sizes! With repertoire ranging from straight-and-narrow gospel standards to original ballads about drinking whiskey 'till ya kick the bucket. The band features an all-star cast of convention ribbon winners, including: Mason Via (guitar), Zeb Gambill (mandolin), Grayson "Pinky" Tuttle (banjo), Sam Weiss (Caleb Clauder Country Band) on fiddle, and Zachary Smith (of Town Mountain) on bass. Led by Mason Via, a young singer/songwriter and son of award winning songwriter David Via (Corn Tornado).

Martha Bassett was raised on the bluegrass and gospel of her native West Virginia farmland. Classically trained, Martha is blessed with a crystalline tone, a remarkable range, and sultry delivery. Her performances are known for their emotional honesty and visceral impact, making everyone in the room feel she?s singing directly to them. Her musical inspiration moves effortlessly through swing, jazz, folk, country, and rock guaranteeing playful variety at her live shows. Mixing originals with choice covers, she navigates sexy torch songs, rip-your-heart-out ballads, and slinky groove tunes with ease supported by a band equally comfortable in acoustic and electric settings. With her fourth disc, The Goodbye Party, Martha explores longing, anger, loss and love. The songs are heartbroken and wistfully triumphant. No Depression describes Martha?s music as ?intricate and resoundingly captivating, each song takes me further into a scene.?






Regularly seen on stages at Merlefest, the Eastern Music Festival, Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival and concert venues throughout North Carolina and Virginia, she?s opened for Lyle Lovett, Tony Bennett, the Avett Brothers, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Jim Lauderdale, and Chuck Prophet. Martha contributed music to the Sony Classics film, ?Junebug,? as well. Her tours have taken her up and down the east coast and into the Midwest.
