Three Run Four is a running group focused on creating a low-pressure, social community through shared interests in fitness, fun, and frothy brews. Our members include anyone looking to train for their first 5k or their fiftieth, to meet new friends, or to just run through downtown St. Louis in a safe setting. We meet every Thusday at Tin Roof at 6:15pm to build up a good thirst with a 2 or 3-mile run and then quench that thirst with craft beer!

As you know, Kool Beanz is a huge supporter of the arts and it's diverse universe. And we're huge fans of artists who are as diverse.
So imagine our surprised joy when we found out that our recurring resident artist was also a published author.
That's right. Bill Delaney, our pop art with artistic flair artist is also a published author. He's admitted to one hard copy novel, and eight Amazon Kindle publications. And it's one of his Amazon Kindle novels he wants to share with us.
He's written his own version of Alice in Wonderland and promises a twist that we're not ready for but will have tons of fun with anyway.
So come to Kool Beanz Saturday, June 16th as Bill reads two chapters from his book "A Twisted Wonderland".

Refreshments will be served and when he's finished amusing us with his two chapters, he's up for answering all your questions ending the night with an invitation to his charity art show in July that's featuring his pop art take on the classic story in original illustration, classic Disney images, and live action movie. But just the first one by Disney.

Wonderland. A world where nonsense rules and logic is a concept that can only be grasped if and when you understand the rules of nonsense. Once upon a time a young girl named Alice ventured into this world and had a series of misadventures. But what if Wonderland was meant to be seen by people other than a little girl?

Lee is a young man with too many issues and not enough therapists or drugs, pharmaceutical or illegal to deal with. He's made many bad decisions based solely on the concept that boredom is not something he can deal with. One day, while with his boyfriend, that concept would bring him to Wonderland. But this Wonderland is both like and unlike anything he's ever known or thought he knew.

Now, trapped in a world he thought he knew, Lee must meet and deal with a variety of characters that defy even nonsense in order to make it from point A to point B, which to him is back home. As he wanders, as well as wonders, he'll meet cynically adult versions of classic characters who want nothing more than to teach him the errors of his ways. Will he learn the lessons they want to teach? Or will he forever be trapped in a world that he soon learns no one ever knew?

If a Fellini film, a Bosch painting, and a Rorschach drawing had a collective sound, it would be Typhoon's new release. The 14-track record Offerings is a musical and lyrical excursion into surreal imagery, eerie soundscapes, and an emotionally jarring narrative. The 70-minute album for Roll Call Records, which is the Portland, Oregon indie rock band's fourth studio album, centers on a fictional man who is losing his memory, and in turn, his sense of self. "I've always been preoccupied with memory, losing memory, and trying to recapture memory. I wanted to explore the questions: What does a person become if they don't know where they came from? What is the essential quality of the person if you strip away all memory?" explains singer/songwriter Kyle Morton. Motivated in part by his own preoccupation with "losing it," Morton also found a treasure trove of inspiration through various books, art, and film he was immersed in during the writing of this record. "I was watching a lot of David Lynch, and thought a lot about the Christopher Nolan movie, Memento, and Fellini's 8 ½. And there were a lot of books on my nightstand that played into this. It made it a much darker album for sure," he says. Offerings is divided into three movements of descent and an epilogue (Floodplains, Flood, Reckoning, and Afterparty) to represent the mental phases the main character goes through where he first realizes that something is wrong, then struggles through the chaos of his situation, and finally moves into acceptance before succumbing to his dreadful fate. "I wanted this record to be a journey, like Dante's Inferno. It kicks off with 'Wake,' where the character wakes up and he's shitting the bed and doesn't know what's going on. I was going for a specific feel that Samuel Beckett does so well," says Morton, who was reading Beckett?s Three Novels, specifically Malloy, while writing the song's lyrics. "Beckett would call it a literature of impoverishment where he'd strip away as much as he could so he could get a feeling of essence and scarcity; that's what I tried to do musically and lyrically here."

With his fiery guitar and lap steel playing, his trailblazing, instantly memorable songs and gritty, unvarnished vocals, Birchwood is among the most extraordinary young stars in the blues. Birchwood?s high-octane blues?at once deeply rooted, funky and up-to-the-minute?are played with passion and honest emotion. With his band feeding off his drive and exuberance, the striking 6?3? young man with his trademark Afro roams the stage (often barefoot), ripping out memorable guitar licks with ease, his soulful, rocks-and-gravel vocals firing up the crowd.

Lead singer and songwriter Drew McManus creates music for his soul, fueled by the ever present task of personal growth and the beautiful life that he found in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. Commenting on his difficult upbringing in Des Moines and residency in Chicago, McManus says, ?I grew up in an environment where aggression, violence, abuse, and addiction were always present. It made me a lot of things; angry, sad, and ashamed. I hated my story and I was a slave to addiction. I tried for so long to hide from the reality of my story and the reality of how beautiful life could be.? It wasn?t until an intense spiritual experience lead Drew to break his cycle of addiction. ?I had changed my entire outlook on everything? say McManus, ?I began to realize that had everything not happened to me exactly like it did, I would not be exactly who/where/what I am right now.? In an effort to share his revelation with others who may be in the same predicament, Drew began to write every day. ?I was flooded with the urge to write down the lessons that kept revealing themselves in this surrender. And the connections I began making with other people by making this music vulnerable and open, began to change everything.? These songs are a statement of lessons learned and a further understanding of self. ?The whole story is what makes it beautiful, not just the good bits.?

Lithics is a four person minimalist punk band from Portland, Oregon formed in late 2014.
