Swan Lake has had a special role in the repertory of The Royal Ballet since 1934. This Season The Royal Ballet creates a new production with additional choreography by Artist in Residence Liam Scarlett. While remaining faithful to the Petipa-Ivanov text, Scarlett will bring fresh eyes to the staging of this classic ballet, in collaboration with his long-term designer John Macfarlane.

Prince Siegfried chances upon a flock of swans while out hunting. When one of the swans turns into a beautiful woman, Odette, he is enraptured. But she is under a spell that holds her captive, allowing her to regain her human form only at night.

Swan Lake was Tchaikovsky?s first ballet score. Given its status today as arguably the best loved and most admired of all classical ballets, it is perhaps surprising that at its premiere in 1877 Swan Lake was poorly received. It is thanks to the 1895 production by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov that Swan Lake has become part of not only ballet consciousness but also wider popular culture. That success is secured not only by the sublime, symphonic sweep of Tchaikovsky?s score, but also by the striking choreographic contrasts between Petipa?s royal palace scenes and the lyric lakeside scenes created by Ivanov.

About The Sea The Sea:
THE SEA THE SEA is an Upstate New York based indie folk-pop duo-fronted band featuring what HuffPost calls, ?Two of the loveliest male-female voices you might ever hear this or any other year.? Their 2014 debut release, Love We Are We Love, received praise from NPR, American Songwriter, and No Depression, among others, gathering over 15 million streams on Spotify. The animated video for their song "Waiting" sparked viral interest including Buzzfeed, Pitchfork, and inclusion at the international TED 2015 conference. Their 2016 release, the six-song EP In the Altogether, earned features on Apple Music?s ?Best of the Week? and ?A-List Singer/Songwriter? lists. The band is gearing up to release their sophomore full-length album, From The Light, on June 1 (2018) and is currently touring the US as a four-piece with the addition of Cara May Gorman (vocals, synthesizer) and drummer and percussionist Stephen Struss.

About Caroline Spence and Robby Hecht:
Robby Hecht & Caroline Spence met while performing at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in 2013. Since then, these two friends have gotten into the habit of taking time off from their solo projects to write and sing together in their hometown of Nashville and on tour across the country. After their two duet singles, "Two People? and ?Parallel Lines? were streamed nearly 8 million times on Spotify, Robby and Caroline figured they were doing something right and decided to write and record a full album. This new album, Two People, is named in honor of the first song they released together, but the title really speaks more to the heart of the collection itself. All of the songs on Two People are about the endlessly beautiful and difficult task of joining your life with another?s. In the case of Spence and Hecht, the results are elegant harmonies and effortlessly human songs that cut right to the point.

Having been the subject and willing conspirator of many intentional lies planted in Sonic Youth bios over the years, I know first hand the way album lore can bend reality to its truth. After the infamous Byron Coley originated the SY ?Trilogy? myth in the Murray Street bio, we had no choice but to fulfill those expectations with Sonic Nurse. ?Why did you decide to make a trilogy?? was always the first question asked in interviews around that time.

But this is Kurt Vile?s bio, and I wont do that to him. Anyway, Kurt does his own myth making; a boy/man with an old soul voice in the age of digital everything becoming something else, which is why this focused, brilliantly clear and seemingly candid record is a breath of fresh air. Recorded and mixed in a number of locations, including Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, b?lieve i?m goin down? is a handshake across the country, east to west coast, thru the dustbowl history (?valley of ashes?) of woody honest strait forward talk guthrie, and a cali canyon dead still nite floating in a nearly waterless landscape. The record is all air, weightless, bodyless, but grounded in convincing authenticity, in the best version of singer songwriter upcycling. In Kurt?s words, ?I wanted to get back into the habit of writing a sad song on my couch, with nobody waiting on me. I really wanted it to sound like it?s on my couch ? not in a lo-fi way, just more unguarded and vulnerable.?

For a record that plays like a cohesive acoustic experience, its musicality marks Kurt?s departure from an electric guitar experience to include a range of instrumentation with a large group of players. From the banjo he plays on ?I?m an Outlaw? to the piano and lapsteel on ?Life Like This,? and the myriad other instruments on other songs, including farfisa, resonator, arps, horns and synth, one never thinks about what exactly yr listening to as it all serves the song.??The heart of the record is ?Stand Inside.? The music is quiet and the melody, like a hymn, folds in on itself, and embraces full strength in a sexy, floating forcelessness that slowly gathers into a wave that doesn?t go where you think it will or rather gives in to itself and celebrates a man willing to be defined by a woman and his love for her as witness to each other?s lives? Don?t stand by my side, stand inside gives up roleplaying for true exposure and vulnerability.
It?s a weird, accepting, mature record, acknowledging the inherent immaturity of being a person whether father, husband, partner, adult, musician, not perfect, but compelling for its understanding ? that?s life though so sad to say? I love this record,

Remember the Eighties? Sure, we all do...but the Legwarmers don't just remember the Eighties - they relive them. It all started back in May 2001 when Gordon Gartrell and Cru Jones had just seen yet another cover band butcher the decade that they loved, so they decided to do something about it. They assembled a group and vowed to give the world's most hedonistic decade the tribute it deserved. Joined by Chet Reno, Lavaar Huxtable, Roxanne Rio, Capt. Morgan Pondo and Clarence McFly, they locked themselves in the basement with a shoebox-full of dusty 45's and an endless supply of Tab. One year later, the Legwarmers emerged.
