MEET YOUR HOST:
Jessica Jean Weston is chef owner of Superfresh! Organic Café and author of "Healing Tonics, Juices, & Smoothies: 100+ Elixirs to Nurture Body and Soul". Jessica studied Medical Anthropology at Ithaca College and is a certified Holistic Health Coach (Institute for Integrative Nutrition). Jessica has spent her career exploring the broad subject of Food as Medicine. This professional concentration has led her to work along side traditional Mayan bush doctors in the forests of Belize, to labor on CSA farms in the Finger Lakes and Green Mountains, to studying herbalism, shiatsu and shamanism in Southern VT, to provide marketing and outreach coordination at the GreenStar Cooperative Market, and to volunteer at the Ithaca Free Clinic.
Jessica?s personal journey to health navigating a series of food intolerances, as well as what made her feel most vibrant, led her to a non-GMO plant-based diet free of soy, gluten, dairy, eggs and meat. Recognizing that everyone has their own path to explore with different physical, emotional and environmental needs, her goal is to simply share her experiences and knowledge through creating delicious, approachable cuisine, with understanding that no one being is alike (even the same on a different day with different circumstances).
Her passion for food runs deep through her Italian roots, with endless layers of her life travels, studies and experiences and can be seen in the creation of her restaurant in Brattleboro, VT. With a healthy addiction to crafting creative combinations and alternative twists on classic favorites, all while aiming to fuel the body, mind and spirit with the best ingredients possible, the love for her craft surely seeps through every aspect of her work.
