on the country music landscape. He will make his Nutty Brown Café & Amphitheatre debut on Friday, June 15.

Known for his traditional country sound, authentic lyrics and mastery of understatement, Corbin is an American singer-songwriter who was made for singing country music. His self-titled debut album released in 2010 and spawned back-to-back hits ?A Little More Country Than That? and ?Roll With It;? making him the first country male artist in 17 years to have his first two consecutive singles reach No. 1. In 2012 the Gilchrist County Florida native released his sophomore album, All Over The Road, which included the Top 5 hits ?Lovin? You Is Fun? and ?All Over The Road.? Corbin set a career-best debut on Country Airplay with his top 5 hit single, ?Baby Be My Love Song," from his No. 1 debuting album About To Get Real. Corbin spent 2016 on one of the biggest tours in country music -Carrie Underwood?s The Storyteller Tour which Billboard named the #1 country tour of the first half of 2016 Forbes picked it as one of 10 hottest tours of the fall.

Born Ernest Evans and inspired by Ernest Tubb, Chubby Checker vowed to someday enter show business and took his first step toward that goal by forming a street corner harmony group when he was only 11 years old. And the rest, as they say, is history. His breakthrough hit, ?The Twist? made Checker the only artist to have a song be a number one hit ? twice! He introduced the concept of ?dancing apart to the beat,? inspiring the all of the different dance crazes that helped define a generation. At the forefront was Checker with ?The Fly,? ?The Pony,? and ?The Hucklebuck.? The next few years were prolific for the singer as hit after hit rolled in: Checker?s, ?Pony Time,? went straight to number one and stayed on the charts for 16 weeks; his song, ?Let?s Twist Again,? went Platinum; he is the only artist to have nine double-sided hits; and he is the only artist to have five albums in the Top 12 all at once. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honored Checker with a special award presentation in 2008. In between recording and touring, he took time to add feature films to his repertoire with the releases of Don?t Knock The Twist, and Twist Around The Clock. Brian Ransom is a professor of Visual Art at Eckerd College, a four year liberal arts college in St. Petersburg, Florida. His show, Sounding Clay, features what he is most known for ? his sounding sculptures and musical instruments whose primary resonators are ceramic, although they increasingly employ an unusual variety of media and installation venues in their presentations. Ransom?s musical compositions, which he writes for his original ceramic musical instruments, have been featured in recordings, film and video soundtracks and ballet scores throughout the past twenty years. His sounding sculptures have been exhibited and collected internationally. He has lectured extensively including giving an interactive presentation at Harvard University on acoustics. Among the awards Ransom has received include the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Sculpture, The Fulbright/Hayes Fellowship in Peru, and several State Arts Commission grants.

Annie Guthrie is the middle daughter of folksinger Arlo Guthrie and artist Jackie Guthrie, and had many options for inspiration growing up. At a young age she saw a picture of her grandmother Marjorie, a Martha Graham dancer, which motivated her to become a dancer. Her stubborn personality meant nothing was going to stop her. Eventually a knee injury slowed her down; that?s when Annie?s mother put a guitar in her hands and taught her a few chords. It didn?t take long for Annie to reinvent her love ? she still dances, just a little differently now. She recalls her dad teaching her how to finger-pick Elizabeth Cotten?s song ?Freight Train?. ?My dad started off showing me the chords and saying, ?Okay do this with your thumb,? and he?d go away for a few months. He?d come back and ask me if I practiced. I was in love and couldn?t put the guitar down, so of course I practiced. Once he realized I wasn?t giving up, he kept adding a new finger and another string.?

Guthrie is a prolific songwriter and versatile musician who primarily plays acoustic guitar, bass, percussion and autoharp. Annie?s songs are honest, ranging from light and funny to gut-wrenching heartbreak (mostly gut-wrenching heartbreak); as her grandfather Woody Guthrie said, ?You can only write what you see,? and she has taken that to heart, writing songs that tell it like it is.

Making her recording debut on Arlo Guthrie?s Someday album at the age of four, Annie went on to contribute vocals on Woody?s 20 Grow Big Songs (1991), More Together Again (1994) and joined her father Arlo & family on All Over The World, a track included on Occupy This Album (2012) in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Dragonfly is Annie Guthrie?s long-awaited solo debut released in July of 2016. This collection of songs penned by Guthrie showcases her gift for directness and going straight for the heart. Annie?s honest approach to songwriting coupled with her soulful delivery makes Dragonfly a compelling and notable solo premiere.


Cathy Guthrie and Amy Nelson, also known as Folk Uke, have been writing and performing together for over a decade. This duo is a unique amalgam of angelic harmonies often wrapped around edgy, surprising lyrics. Folk Uke plays folk music in its truest form with a delightfully wicked twist.

It was 1998 in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter when Cathy Guthrie and Amy Nelson met at a bar?where they both worked. One was a tramp and one was devastatingly pure. With a ukulele and an acoustic guitar, they formed a band for the same reason kids join gangs? just to survive, but also to unleash the brilliance that was poking them from within.

Don't believe the rumors. Folk Uke is not totally amazing. They're just kind of amazing. If you find yourself at a Folk Uke show, you are in for a treat? but maybe not the kind of treat that you like the taste of. Come to a show and see for yourself.

Better yet, buy their albums first and you may save yourself the trouble. And if you make it to a live Folk Uke show, do your best to enjoy it?and then give them two more chances. They are hit and miss, but so are you most likely, and that is their charm. We live to inspire and we're tired of writing in third person.
